Who am I as a person?
Hi, my name is Fiona Sprang. I am a 22-year-old video game design student with an open mind and a drive to create and explore new worlds. I’ve always been a bit lost on my path, but the one thing I always knew I wanted in my life was to make art, to use my creativity as a living.
One day, a therapist asked me: 'If you had to be an inanimate object, which one would you be?' Almost without thinking, I replied, 'A book.' 'Why?' she asked back. I said, 'Because I want to be timeless. I want my story and my legacy to live longer than I ever will, and I want people from all places to know me and be touched by my human experience.' I think that sums up pretty well who I am as a human being.
What is… Marte?
If you know Spanish, you already know what 'Marte' means… it’s literally Mars, the planet or the Roman god. But what does it have to do with me? Why is it the first thing you read when you click on my portfolio link?
It's simple, and it has a deeply meaningful story behind it. When I was little, I always wanted to be a star—dream big and all—so I wanted a pseudonym, like most creatives do. But my mind was blocked; I couldn't think of a good name for my artistic identity.
But one day, at 14 years old (right when I was obsessed with astrology) I was looking at my birth chart. I knew people who were genuinely named Venus or Jupiter, which I found very cute. Then, like a lightbulb lighting up, I thought about my favorite placement in my own chart: my Mars in Aries.
I’ve always struggled with suppressed anger and spent a long time being a people pleaser. During my teenage years, it was harder than ever to set boundaries and overcome the fear of people hating me for saying 'no.' Knowing I had Mars in Aries was a mind-blowing moment. It felt as if something told me I had an inner force, an energy, and a courage that I had never explored due to my own mental limitations.
That’s why Marte means so much to me. It turned into a persona that allows me to be brave and face life without the fear of being rejected or judged. Marte is my identity as an empowered woman.
What is my main goal?
My dream is to live in a world where we can all coexist and live in harmony, bridging nature and technology. I am a very positive person who wants to leave a legacy that encourages others to dream and fight for a brighter, more hopeful future, to never give up on humanity and life itself.
I know what it means to struggle. That's why I want each one of my stories to carry a message, exploring complex issues with meticulous care so people can relate to them and find comfort in being seen. Through interactive words and fantasy worlds, I want to give them a bit of joy and a reason to stay strong.
I love this world and I want to make it a better place from my humble position as a creative. I want to share my thoughts, desires, hopes, and beliefs, because I firmly believe that is exactly what it means to create art: to put your heart and soul into it.
